The Barnes Family Foundation is a 501(c)3 charitable organization dedicated to improving the lives of the less fortunate and enhancing the community through education, historical preservation and compassion.

Patricia Wood Barnes, founder of Sister Schubert's Homemade Rolls, established the foundation in 2000. Since then, the Barnes Family Foundation has donated more than $2.3 million to charities, scholarships, historical preservation and the creation of a home for abandoned children in the Ukraine.

The foundation's mission is, "To show by what we do – that we are thankful for food in a hungry world, that we are thankful for friendship in a lonely world, but mostly, that we are thankful for the opportunity to help save and love all of God's children in the world."

• The Barnes Family Foundation believes in preserving America's heritage through maintaining and restoring historical sites. The foundation has supported several restoration projects in Alabama. For the Pioneer Museum, the foundation provided artifacts and cash donations to maintain relics from pioneer days. The $1 million restoration of Troy, Alabama's Henderson House, the boyhood home of Alabama Governor Charles Henderson, is the foundation's largest historical preservation project to date.
• The Barnes Family Foundation believes nobody should go hungry. The foundation began its charitable giving by helping local food banks, feeding the homeless and assisting those faced with devastation. The foundation continues to donate rolls and cash to charities and churches providing food to those in need.
• The Barnes Family Foundation believes that children throughout the world deserve loving, stable homes. The foundation has provided funding for Sasha's Home in Gorlovka, Ukraine, a seven-apartment foster care facility that provides a loving environment for 50 to 60 abandoned children while they await adoption by their "forever" families.
• The Barnes Family Foundation believes in educating the country's youth by allowing them to experience the world around them. It provides scholarships for students to study abroad.
