MORE THAN 3,300 ENTRIES RECEIVED IN SISTER SCHUBERT'S MEMORABLE HOLIDAY MOMENTS CONTEST
Judging Underway to Choose Grand Prize Winner and Five First-Prize Entries
LUVERNE, Ala. – January 22, 2009 – More than 3,300 men and women from across the country shared a family anecdote in the Memorable Holiday Moments contest sponsored by Sister Schubert’s Homemade Rolls and Meredith Corporation. The first round of judging identified 100 semi-finalist entries, and winners will be selected on or about Jan. 31.
"It’s exciting that so many people took time out of their busy holiday schedules to share their memories with us," said Patricia "Sister Schubert" Barnes, founder and vice president of product development and manufacturing for Sister Schubert’s Homemade Rolls. "Nothing brings families together like the holidays, and it’s a pleasure to these heartwarming stories about shared moments, meals and traditions."
During the first round of judging, a panel of judges from Meredith Corporation selected 100 semi-finalist entries that were judged to the most heartfelt, most meaningful and best adhering to the "memorable holiday moments" theme.
At the end of January, Mrs. Barnes will work with a new panel of judges, including other executives from T. Marzetti Company, parent company of Sister Schubert’s Homemade Rolls, to select the grand prize winner and five runner-up winners from the semi-finalists.
The author of the grand prize entry will win a five-night vacation for four to the Riu Palace Mexico resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico. The winner also will choose a local food bank to receive a $5,000 donation. Five first-prize winners will receive $100 gift cards. All entrants received an Internet coupon for $1 off any variety of Sister Schubert’s Homemade Rolls just for entering.
Contest entrants visited SisterSchuberts.com between October 14 and December 24, 2009 and entered an essay of up to 200 words about their families’ most memorable holiday moments. All entries currently are displayed at www.sisterschubertsweeps.com.
