It was Adam's third Christmas, probably the first he would remember, and his last as an only child. His little brother Eric would arrive in about 7 weeks. We were opening presents Christmas morning and as he unwrapped what he had asked Santa for, many times, a smile spread across his sweet face. A Buzz Lightyear and Woody doll were clutched in each of his chubby hands and he gazed back and forth between them with a look of delight on his face. I eased myself down to the floor to gently remind him of the pile of presents left to open from grandmas and grandpas across the country. As he climbed onto what remained of my lap, he whispered the words I will never forget, "I have enough mama. I don't need anymore." His words echoed what my heart was feeling at that exact moment and captured the true sentiment of Christmas for me.
