When I was young we lived in Buffalo, New York and we didn't have much money, my mom had to take me to the train yard at Christmas time as they were giving out a present to each child in need, I picked a small kitchen set. My dad saw that small little present and it broke his heart, he had a background in commercial art and spent the next week building a beautiful full size kitchen set out of refrigerator boxes, the refrigerator, stove and sink were amazing to me when I woke up Christmas morning, the stove door opened and had oven racks made out of cardboard, the sink had a faucet and my dad had a tube through it to a plastic container so that you could use it like a real sink and the refrigerator door opened and there were racks to put pretend food, to this little girl it was the most amazing present Santa had ever brought and now with both my parents gone I look back on how much my dad loved me to build that kitchen from boxes and dreams. I hold that in my heart to this day.
