Sister's Scones Sister's Note: I love to serve these pretty little scones at parties.
4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Combine first 4 ingredients in a large bowl. Cut in butter with a pastry blender until mixture is crumbly. Stir in raisins. Add 1 cup whipping cream, stirring with a fork just until dry ingredients are moistened. Sister's Note: You may want to soak the raisins in brandy or sherry for one hour to plump them and give them extra flavor. Drain and stir the raisins into the flour mixture as directed. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead lightly 10 to 12 times or until smooth and no longer sticky. 1-inch scalloped cookie cutter. Place scones on lightly greased large baking sheets, leaving 1 inch of space between scones. Brush scones with remaining 3 tablespoons whipping cream. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until lightly browned. Yield: 40 scones. © 1996 by Oxmoor House, Inc. |
